Our Services

Individual Physiotherapy Rehabilitation

We combine manual therapy with active movement and lifestyle strategies. This allows us to assist in improving symptoms while active movement and lifestyle strategies empower you to achieve long term results and achieve independence and self management.

Our longer assessments and experience allows to focus on getting to the cause rather than just treating symptoms.

We can treat both ACC and private patients. No referral is required.

Conditions we treat:

  • Back and neck injuries/pain

  • Pre/post op rehabilitation

  • Shoulder pain and injuries

  • Sports injuries

  • Arthritis/joint pain

  • Hip/knee/ankle injuries

  • Work related chronic or acute injuries

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Irene has specialised training in female pelvic health and can treat incontinence, sexual pain/dysfunction, prolapse, birth injuries and pelvic pain conditions (e.g. Vaginismus, Endometriosis etc.). Its not just kegels!

We provide antenatal and postnatal WOFs to assist you preparing for birth and recovering after birth. Even if you have no particular concerns it is beneficial to be able to get assessment and information to help reduce the potential of you developing concerns in the future. ACC now covers some birth injuries.

We also provide pessary fitting service for prolapse management if other strategies are not working for you.

Antenatal/Postnatal Physiotherapy

Aches and pains are common during pregnancy but let us help you. Physiotherapy is effective in helping to manage pelvic girdle pain, back pain, pubic symphysis pain, carpal tunnel syndrome. Treatment includes a mixture of manual therapy, belts/braces, exercise and lifestyle management.

We are skilled in exercise prescription during pregnancy and can guide you on this whether you are wondering what is recommended or how you can modify your current exercise programme.

Postnatal recovery is sometimes a shock to women and rarely fits into that 6 week period. We can assist with diastasis recti rehab, postnatal strength and conditioning and work with you to bridge the gap between rehab and returning to your sport or goals.

Cancer Rehabilitation

Irene is PINC certified to deliver cancer rehabilitation. Physiotherapy assessment and treatment can be useful pre-op, during treatment or post treatment. Each stage in this process will have a different focus and goal and based on your ability at each stage.

Some treatments may include:

  • Strengthening exercises

  • Mobility/stretching

  • Breathing exercises

  • Scar mobilisation

  • Pacing of daily activities

Clinical Pilates

Clinical pilates is beneficial for improving quality and control of movement. It builds strength and flexibility. It can be adapted for your stage of injury, mobility or strength.

This can be used in conjunction with manual therapy in acute injury rehabilitation or as an aspect of strengthening and movement for higher level function and performance.

We have years of experience working with individuals and small specialised groups in clinical pilates.

We offer classes limited to three participants which are tailored to their needs. An experienced physiotherapist will lead you through specific exercises on pilates equipment (Reformer, chair and tower) allowing you to strengthen and lengthen in a way that serves you.

An individual assessment prior to the class is recommended for planning of your classes but not essential if you have prior experience with reformer pilates.
